Dear editor,

Starting from 8 p.m. one would rather let a patient die than temper with Kibuye roads. The night watchmen who are actually meant to ensure total security to the people are the ones who violate it instead.

A team of selected army men plus a few civilians have made the security work some kind of circus. After drinking a lot, they start forcing shopkeepers to close their shops before time and in case they refuse or delay to comply, the next step is beating them up. Many people have fallen victim to brutal beatings and other kinds of torture as they are falsely accused of not walking with their national identity cards.

These aggressive security keepers ask for health insurance cards and if at all one fails to produce any or "the Indangamuntu", then woe unto that person.

As if that is not enough, any woman on foot between 8:00 and 9:00 is regarded a prostitute as far as they are concerned. They will tell you to decide between beating you up or helping them with the services you offer to other men.

I really wonder what they are protecting, yet every now and then thefts occur and cases of girls being raped happen.

These security guards cause chaos especially in Chyumbati where when they are drunk, they fight over prostitutes.

The local authorities in the area should do something about this security breach by the security watchers before it really gets out of hand, otherwise we residents will be forced to appeal to higher authorities in Kigali for protection.
