15 foreign firms register for Agric Expo

KIGALI - 15 agricultural firms from the East African region and Asia have so far confirmed their participation in the forthcoming agricultural exhibition slated for June 6-12 at Mulindi Agricultural Showground.The fair that is expected to attract numerous exhibitors will be held under the theme, “Irrigation and mechanisation in agriculture transformation”.

KIGALI - 15 agricultural firms from the East African region and Asia have so far confirmed their participation in the forthcoming agricultural exhibition slated for June 6-12 at Mulindi Agricultural Showground.

The fair that is expected to attract numerous exhibitors will be held under the theme, "Irrigation and mechanisation in agriculture transformation”.

Save for local firms, companies from Kenya, India, South Korea, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Burundi have confirmed their participation.

Speaking to The New Times, the chairman of Irrigation and Mechanisation Task Force in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Jean Jacques Mbonigaba Muhinda, said the expo would give both local and foreign participants opportunities to share experiences and learn from each other.

"Promotion of mechanisation in agriculture is one of the strategic plans we are implementing so as to achieve agricultural transformation,” Muhinda said.

Prominent among the exhibitors will be Tong Yang Moolsan, a South Korean company that is well-known for designing, manufacturing and distribution of machinery and agricultural equipment.

Over 100 small and medium scale farmers have also confirmed their participation.
