THE Special Olympics Committee-Rwanda is still looking for US$50000 (about Frw27.5M) to enable it send athletes to the October World Special Olympics Games in Shanghai, China.

The committee’s national director, Anaclet Ruzindana told Times Sport that they need Frw27 millions to facilitate both the team’s preparations and air tickets.

"I think it’s the responsibility of everyone to boost this team because these players are going to represent the country,” Ruzindana said.

He noted that the donations to the team do not only rotate around money, it can also be air tickets or team suits.

Each return air ticket is estimated to cost $1000 (about 0.55M).

The Special Olympics Rwanda team is expected to start residential training on September 14, one week before they head to China.

Currently, all players are undergoing non-residential training at their respective schools and or clubs countrywide.

The Special Olympics team with 18 players (11 athletes and seven football players) starts a one-month training camp early next month and are expected to jet off for Shanghai on September 27.
