Editor,

I am a regular reader of your newspaper and appreciate your role in informing and educating the public about what is happening in our country.

This time, allow me to commend the Rwanda Revenue Authority –Customs services department – for the important milestone reached in easing the process to acquire import documents.

Indeed, it is something that all importers and investors should be rejoicing about.

Reducing the documents from six to three means that the cost of doing business will be much easier.

In addition, the decision by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to reduce the amount of money required for one to register their business is another milestone that Rwandans and potential investors, in general, will benefit from.

There’s no doubt this will result in increased investment and more revenue collection for the country.

I am looking forward to more reforms, which should ultimately lead to a much broader tax base. That will eventually enable us to finance the budget 100 percent.
