There are people who appreciate what has been achieved by Kigali city council and others who feel it could do better.

We asked people if they were given a chance to be the mayor of this city what they would change about it.

"The change I would like to see in Kigali city is the reduction of security operatives. Seeing military police, the army, police and local defense forces on streets paints a picture of insecurity.”

Dan Byarugaba, Truck Driver

"The cost of living here in Kigali is getting higher and higher so personally I would try to work on that”

Mudathir, Web designer

"Instead of chasing people from Kigali slums, I think it would be better if the government gave people loans so that they can drag themselves from the jaws of poverty.”

Sheikh Sindayigaya Musa, Self-employed.

"We’ve come from far, and everything I would like to see changed or done is being worked on. So far so good.”

Tim Benson, RDB Employee
