Four students under the presidential scholarship programme graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Hendrix College, United States.

These follow ten others who completed their studies from Oklahoma Christian University earlier in February.

Two of them pursued majors in computer science and mathematics and physics, respectively.

The Presidential Scholars Programme Coordinator at the university, Sarah Lee, commended the graduates for overcoming cultural adjustments to enrich the campus’ community.

"The students have been ambassadors for Rwandan culture,” Lee said in a statement.

"They have educated the Hendrix community about the Rwandan Genocide against the Tutsi, promoting Genocide awareness and remembrance.”

There are currently 27 Rwandans at Hendrix University under the Presidential Scholars initiative.

The programme was initiated by President Paul Kagame in 2005 to support students studying science and technology.
