Editor,

Being a Rwandair client and a businessperson, news that the airline has launched a second flight for Kigali-Kamembe route is really laudable. I travel to Kigali frequently and the biggest problem that faces the majority of business people in the area is transport.

I have been inconvenienced many times since I could not manage the 8:30am flight. Many times, I would travel to Kigali by road which means spending almost seven hours from Kamembe to Kigali. The road travel wastes time for me as a business person. Therefore, Rwandair’s second flight at 2:30 p.m every Thursday and Saturday is a welcome move.

I take this opportunity to thank the management of Rwandair for the timely arrangement. I also wish to commend Rwandair for initiating the Kamembe-Bujumbura and Kigali- Gisenyi routes.

Since joining the East African Community, competition with member states is tight and traders must realise that spending seven hours on the road from Kamembe to Kigali is not good for business.

The impending launch of Rwanda’s second destination into Central and West Africa is also a welcome development. I am sure, as Rwandair initiates new routes, air transport will be cheaper.
