Police striker Kagere Meddie was yesterday named the Primus National League Player of the month for April.
The Prolific, 26 year is the league top scorer with 18 goals this season, five more than his closest rival APR midfielder Jean Baptiste Muriganeza.

Kagere was selected by a committee made up of six sports journalists and six local football federation match commissioners.

The striker, who scored 3 goals in 4 matches in April and produced numerous assists for his teammates, beat off stiff competition from AS Muhanga play maker Kalisa Diadort, Etincelles striker Claver Muhire and Mukura winger Regis Ingabire

According to Didas Nyirifasha, Radio 10’s Sports’ Editor, who was part of the selection process, the player fulfilled the qualities that the select committee was looking for.
"We were targeting the technical, tactical and moral conduct of the players.

We selected 24 players during the month of April and after carefully scrutinizing them, we found him to be the best candidate,” Nyirifasha said.

The player was given a trophy and a party was thrown for him by Bralirwa, the league sponsors.
