Gicumbi youth counseled about HIV/AIDS

GICUMBI - The youth in Gicumbi District were urged to abstain from sex to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.The call was made by the District National Aids Control Commission (CNLS) officer, Jacques Ngaruye, during a HIV/Aids awareness campaign at Mukono Secondary School, during an event attended by hundreds of students, community residents and religious leaders.

GICUMBI - The youth in Gicumbi District were urged to abstain from sex to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The call was made by the District National Aids Control Commission (CNLS) officer, Jacques Ngaruye, during a HIV/Aids awareness campaign at Mukono Secondary School, during an event attended by hundreds of students, community residents and religious leaders.

Ngaruye told the students that abstinence was the perfect way to prevent HIV/AIDS among the youth. "Young people should always abstain from sex before marriage,” he advised, urging residents to seek HIV voluntary, counseling and testing.
 
He further encouraged couples to use condoms for family planning to avoid further infection.A number of students volunteered to be tested.
