Last Saturday May 7, Kigali Serena Hotel’s main hall was full to capacity, as music fans from different walks of life assembled to witness the 10 Primus Guma Guma Superstar nominees.

The by invitation-only event that was broadcast live on Rwanda national television attracted thousands of people.

Guests also enjoyed free Bralirwa drinks coupled with a live performance by seasoned artists.

The ten nominees are Dream Boys, Dr. Claude, Urban Boys, J-Polly, Riderman, Rafiki, Mani Martin, Kitoko, King James and Tom Close.

In yet another pleasant bolt from the blue, Lion Imanzi, who was the MC, gagged the audience to guess nominees.
Meanwhile, the evening was not lovely for everyone as some of the artists and fans left the venue disenchanted.

"I can’t believe Shanel wasn’t nominated yet she is a great musician. This is purely unfair,” Ruth Umutoni said.
During yesterday’s rousing evening, the thrilled nominees did not fail to impress the crowd.

"I thank Bralirwa for the great initiative which will help us improve our music career, and to all my fans for voting me. I still need your support throughout the competition and I promise not disappoint you,” Kitoko said.

When the competition starts, the contestants will perform with a live band and the judgment will be based on their performances.

A road show will be held in different parts of the country, including Huye, Rusizi, Nyamagabe, Karongi, Muhanga, Byumba, Kibungo, Rubavu, Ruhengeri, Kigali and Nyagatare, as contestants egg on their fans to support them during the final competition slated for July 30 at Amahoro national stadium.

The contestants will compete for the grand prize of Rwf6 million and record a song with international star, Sean Kingston, among other prizes.
