Three held for attempted murder

Ngoma-Three men have been arrested on charges of attempted murder in Musanvu village near Kibungo town, Ngoma District.

The suspects; Fiston Asifiwe, Abdul-Kareem Mbarushimana and Dominique Nshimiyimana, allegedly attacked Jean Pierre Nsanzumuhire at around 2.a.m at night, at his bar in Musanvu yesterday.

The victim, a prominent businessman in the area, is under intensive care at Kibungo Hospital with serious head and body injuries.

Supt Albert Gakara, the District Police Commander (DPC) of Ngoma disclosed that one of the attackers was Nsanzumuhire’s employee.

The DPC said that the businessman was tortured and left for dead in his  premises.

"The attackers’ intention was to kill the businessman...we are still investigating and all suspects will be brought to book,” he said.

Theos Badege, the Police Spokesman, warned potential criminals against similar acts, saying that the law would catch up with them.

He added that the partnership between the police and the citizens does not give chance to criminals.

"It is very unfortunate that citizens are targeted by wrongdoers...but security and justice will rule over evil. We shall apprehend the criminals,” he said.

The area Executive Secretary, Arcade Murahijemungu Musanvu, said that night patrols by residents would be strengthened to target criminals capitalising on darkness to cause trouble.
