Nyanza- Princess Benedikt of Denmark, who is on a tour of the country, Thursday visited the King’s Palace in Nyanza District to learn about Rwanda’s past political history. The trip is part of her visit to Rwanda.

Princess Benedikt and her delegation explained how the ‘Umwami’ (King in Kinyarwanda) administered the country.

On behalf of the Princess, Kasper Kanstrup, the Head of programmes at SOS Children’s Village in Denmark, noted that it was very crucial and important for the team to visit the palace.

"It makes her happy to visit a country and learn about its history; it is insightful to learn about the culture of the country you visit. You get a better perspective of what you see and who you meet in every day’s life,” Kanstrup noted.

"To understand a person, you have to understand their background”, he added.

Speaking to The New Times, the Director General of the National Institute of Museums of Rwanda, Alphonse Umulisa, noted that they expect the visitors to portray a true image of what they saw once they return to Denmark.

"This visit will help us export the Rwandan culture as we hope to strengthen our ties with Denmark, thus getting a market for our cultural and traditional products,” he noted.
