The Vice president of Rwanda National Olympics Committee (RNOC), Pierre Claver Rwaka, has said that a bigger participation in the Olympics will render more chances for medals.

"There is no need of reducing the number of players because the less the participation, the less the chances,” said Rwaka who also doubles as the National Paralympics Committee, NPC vice president.

However, according to the country’s chief of mission for the Beijing Olympics, Thierry Ntwali, a small number of good players can turn up with good results.

He also called upon all Sports individuals to start early preparations for the Beijing Games.

"We should at least have one year of preparations ahead of tough events if we want to get good results,” he said.

Preparations for the Olympics normally take three years before the event but that cases vary from one country to another depending on the financial capability of Sports federations, the country’s chief of mission for the event said.

The number of sporting disciplines bound for the Olympics has been seized down after the Volleyball team failed to secure a ticket to the Games during the qualifiers that were staged in South Africa early this year.

The team will potentially include Athletes, Cyclists, Tennis players , Swimmers and boxers who are still waiting for the March 22 qualifiers in Windhoek, Namibia.
