The call was made yesterday by Francois Ngamije, the Chairperson of Rwanda Milk Sellers Associations (RMSA), while addressing milk sellers and veterinary officers in Kigali.
"I advise you as colleagues in the milk business to put in place new measures and mechanisms which will enable us compete favourably at both the regional and international level,” Ngamije said.
He encouraged veterinary officers to ensure hygiene in their respective areas of operation.
Ngamije promised that RMSA would work with its members to help formalise their businesses.
Speaking to The New Times shortly after the meeting, Ngamije disclosed that the association was established in February last year and currently has a membership of 1,200 in Kigali City.
He said that the association sells at least 115,000 litres of milk a day, adding that RMSA is also a member of the National Dairy Board.
