Media practitioners around the globe will today celebrate the World Press Freedom Day.

The celebrations in Rwanda will be held in Musanze District, Northern Province, under the theme; ‘A responsible and self regulating media’ and a live talk show will be aired on both Radio Rwanda and Rwanda Television.

Maria Kaitesi spoke to various people, including media owners, practitioners and ordinary citizens on their views about this day.

"The Press in Rwanda is enjoying freedom because there is no state organ that determines editorial policies for media houses. There is also free flow of information between the media and Rwandans. We are also doing everything possible to improve the quality of our media .We as Rwandans should celebrate with the rest of the world with a focus on where we want to be.

Musoni Protais,

Caretaker Minister of information.
