German MPs visit

A high-profile parliamentary delegation from Germany is in the country to hold talks with their counterparts and top government officials.

The five are members of the Committee for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid of the German Federal Parliament.

The discussions are expected to dwell on bilateral relations between the two parliaments.

According to the chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Gideon Kayinamura, details of the visit would be communicated in due course.

 "We are yet to know the purpose of their visit but mainly, they will be working on furthering relations between the German and Rwandan parliament,” Kayinamura said.

A statement from parliament indicates that the delegation is scheduled to meet with the president of the Senate Dr. Vincent Biruta and the Ombudsman, Tito Rutaremara.

The German lawmakers will also hold talks with the Ministers of Justice Tharcisse Karugarama and Minister of Forestry and Mines Christophe Bazivamo as well as members of the Rwanda Human Rights Commission.
