Editor,

It is strange and shocking to hear that a judge, Lilliane Maombi of the primary court of Kanombe, Kicukiro District could solicit a bribe to subvert the course of justice.
I am not apportioning blame because this is the work of the court. But judges’ integrity should always be beyond reproach.

Judges are the custodians of the law and it is very saddening when they turn into violators of the laws, they are supposed to protect.

The fact that the vicitm, Francoise Nyirabihogo, alerted the police over the matter speaks volumes. That is a demonstration that Rwandan citizens are ready to promote accountability and fight graft.

The public should wake up and fight for their rights, by reporting such corrupt -minded people to concerned authorities.

I appeal to the association of judges to denounce Maombi for tainting the good name of judiciary.
