NUR (Rwanda) vs  Redskins (Lesotho)
Al Nahda (Sudan) vs  Al Ahly (Egypt)

NATIONAL University of Rwanda (NUR) got their CAVB Africa Club Championship off to a good start after a 3-1 set victory over Nahda of Sudan.

The varsity side lost the opening start 23-25 but quickly recovered to win the next three sets 25-14, 25-19 and 25-12 to register a much-needed win.

NUR spiker Vincent Dusabimana told Times Sport in a phone interview that, "This is a very crucial victory for the team and we now want to try and build on it.”

Dusabimana’s combination with Flavien Ndamukunda was the difference between the two teams as they combined well to block off the Sudanese side.

NUR now have to overcome Lesotho’s Redskins to have any chance of going through to the quarter-finals considering the fact that their other Pool A opponents ‘Al-Ahly’ clearly have court advantage and experience in their favour.

New signings Ndamukunda, Lawrence Yakan, Olivier Kwizera, Bonny Mutabazi, Pierre Marchal Kwizera and Elie Mutabazi from France will add flavor to their winning streak as they keep their hopes high of reaching the top four.
