Editor,

I wish to respond to a story that appeared in the yesterday’s issue of The New Times titled "Varsity cafeteria threatens to lock out students over debts”.  This is sad.

The Students Financing Agency for Rwanda (SFAR) and the Fund for support to vulnerable genocide survivors, (FARG), the two organisations that provide allowances to vulnerable students, must realise that students, cannot concentrate and study properly if they are not fed.

Obviously, Events Solutions, the firm contracted to run the cafeteria, needs money to feed students and there is no way this can go on smoothly when an accumulated debt of Rwf 100 million is not settled.

But even before the money is found, SFAR, FARG should always be in position to explain their case to Event Solutions in time. Last minute planning has never been good in life.
