Editor,

Through your newspaper, we have the pleasure to thank all those who have expressed satisfaction with the quality of service they receive from the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration.

In particular, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. James Habiyambere for his letter, that appeared The New Times of April 27, 2011.

It is always a great honour for us to hear from our esteemed customers where we have done well or areas that need improvement.

However, we have to acknowledge that this fundamental improvement is a result of clear policies on good governance, promotion of free movement of people, labour, tourism, investment and priority in service delivery as well as commitment to guarantee peace and security to all citizens and visitors in Rwanda.

It is also a demonstration of good National Leadership that upholds fundamental freedoms of people.

The Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration would like to reiterate its commitment to upholding high standards of customer service based on constant innovation and professional conduct in order to meet our customers’ needs.

In this regard, a National Migration Policy, a new and comprehensive Immigration and Emigration law has been enacted.

In conclusion, we would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm that the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration is a public service, accountable to the public and therefore, we seriously take every constructive comment encouraging us to perform better or indicating areas that need improvement.
