AS the Primus League gains momentum, the national football federation (Ferwafa) is exploring ways of luring more sponsors to the top flight league.

Last year, Rwanda’s leading brewer ‘Bralirwa’ and Ferwafa signed a 3-year sponsorship deal worth Rwf335m and Times Sport has now learnt that Ferwafa is in talks with SuperSport, a South African pay television multi-channel on DStv to help market Rwandan football.

Along with MultiChoice Africa and M-Net, SuperSport is a wholly owned subsidiary of the MIH Group, which is listed on the Johannesburg stock exchange, NASDAQ and the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

While confirming that negotiations had started, Ferwafa boss Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura could not give details, insisting that it would jeopardize the talks.

Kazura said, "It is not just SuperSport we are trying to bring on board; we are also in talks with other companies.”
SuperSport is already telecasting leagues in Ghana, Zambia, Angola, Kenya and Nigeria and recently finalized a 5-year deal to televise the Uganda Super league.
