The battle for second place in the primus league took a dramatic turn yesterday when Police went within a point of Kiyovu after a 4-1 drubbing of Marine at Kicuriko artificial turf.

Meddie Kagera gave Police the lead on the 22nd minute and 11 minutes later, midfielder Ibrahim Ndikumasabo added a second to go two up at half time.

Marine Captain Pappy Kamanzi pulled one back for his side in the 65th minute but the western province’s hopes were dashed 6 minutes later when Meddie got his second goal to give his team a 3-1 lead.

Ndikumasabo made sure his side’s push for a second place finish is intact with a well timed volley eight minutes from time.

With seven games left before the end of the season, the race for second place is without doubt the center of focus.
