Let us join hands to fight child labour

Editor, I am writing to commend efforts by the Ministry of Public Service and Labour to eliminate child labour.  Statistics from the ministry show a major drop in child labour from 13 percent in 2002 to 6.6 in 2008. This is an indication that the government is committed to eliminating the vice once and for all.

Editor,

I am writing to commend efforts by the Ministry of Public Service and Labour to eliminate child labour.
Statistics from the ministry show a major drop in child labour from 13 percent in 2002 to 6.6 in 2008. This is an indication that the government is committed to eliminating the vice once and for all.

Like Anna Mugabo, the Director General in charge of labour and employment pointed out last week, educating the masses over issues affecting children is indeed a priority.

I also thank the ministry for putting labour inspectors in all districts; a move I believe will help identify the culprits.
Though child labour is not a menace in Rwanda, we should eliminate the little that may exist and prevent any cases from coming up.

Let us join hands and ensure that all our children go to school and live a decent life.
