KIGALI - A delegation of twenty seven [27] General and Senior Officers from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College [AFCSC] Jaji, Nigeria will be in Rwanda for a regional study tour from 24th April – 1st May 2011.The officers come from the Army, Air Force and Navy Services. There is also one civilian officer on the delegation.
KIGALI - A delegation of twenty seven [27] General and Senior Officers from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College [AFCSC] Jaji, Nigeria will be in Rwanda for a regional study tour from 24th April – 1st May 2011.
The officers come from the Army, Air Force and Navy Services. There is also one civilian officer on the delegation.
The theme of the study tour is "Challenges of Disaster Management to the Armed Forces in Contemporary African Society". The delegation is interested in first hand information on socio - economic and political development in Rwanda.
While in the country, the delegation will visit and receive presentations from the RDF Headquarters, Ministry of Local Government [MINALOC], Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs [MIDIMAR], National Commission for the Fight against Genocide [CNLG], National Unity and Reconciliation Commission [NURC], Institute for Research and Dialogue for Peace [IRDP], Rwanda Environment Management Authority [REMA], Rwanda Development Board [RDB], Methane Gas Project, and Rwanda Beer and Lemonades factory [BRALIRWA] at Rubavu.
The delegation will also visit Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site, Rwanda – DRC Border post at Rubavu, the National Museum of Rwanda at Huye and tour Kigali City.
The Commandant of the College, Air Vice Marshal [AVM] Ahmed Tijani Mu’azu who is also the head of the delegation will hold discussions with the Chief of Defence Staff and pay a courtesy call on the Minister of Defence.
The Commandant is accompanied by senior staff officers, members of the Directing Staff as well as the College students from Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Rwanda. The delegation will be joined by the Nigerian Army Defence Advisor, Brigadier General Edmond CN Obi and the Deputy Defence Advisor, Wing Commander Idi Sani from the Nigerian High Commission in Tanzania.
The tour will enhance the positive image of Rwanda, promote Africa’s integration and enhance military cooperation and defence diplomacy between Rwanda and other countries.
Twelve RDF officers [including two who are currently on training at the AFCSC] have so far graduated from the prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji – Kaduna.
