Rayon Sport striker Bokota Labama is likely to land Amavubi Stars’ call for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations’ group five qualifier against Liberia next month.

The sensational striker who was signed at the start of the second leg of the Primus league is now the leading top scorer of season after tallying his goals to 13 in nine outings.

Amavubi Stars’ will lure the 25 year-old and DR Congo born striker to boost the striking department. 

The national football governing body, Ferwafa has remained reticent on the striker’s inclusion in the national team.

Asked to confirm or deny the reports, Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer told Times Sport yesterday that the federation has not taken any step of discussing the striker’s call to the national team.

Jules Kalisa said, "The player (Bokota) is a brilliant and good striker and his services may boost national team but as a federation, we have not taken any step in discussing the possibility of him playing for the team.”

He, however, noted that Bokota’s call to the national team will depend on the Amavubi Stars’ technical committee decisions.

"If the team’s technical committee decides to include him, then that is when the federation will come up to discuss his inclusion but for now nothing has been sought about him,” Kalisa admitted.

The Amavubi Star’s Coach, Michael Nees failed to give any comment when contacted about the player but said whoever is interested in interviewing him should first seek permission from Ferwafa.

However, Rayon coach, Antoinne Rutsindura is hopeful that once Bokota is given a call to the national team, the team would have landed the type of player whom it has been missing in the past.

"Bokota is an exceptional player and no doubt his services to the national team would be more fruitful compared to present results,” Rutsindura said.

Meanwhile, the Amavubi Stars’ start today its preparations for their Nations’ Cup qualifier against Liberia. Twenty-four home based players head to Gisenyi today for a ten day training camp.

Rwanda is bottom of their group with just three points from five matches. Cameroon leads with maximum points, followed by Eq. Guinea on seven points and Liberia on four.Ends
