The news of extended business hours was received with elation by traders and drivers who ply the Tanzania and Rwanda route.
Abdul Mpandugi, a Tanzanian truck driver, told The New Times that extending working hours at the border would ease congestion of trucks entering and exiting from Rwanda.
"This is good news to us,” Mpandugi said.
Richard Safari, a Rwandan businessman said that extension of working hours at the border post will reduce the waiting times for trucks.
"We encounter difficulties – delays and theft. If we can still be served after 6 p.m., I am sure we shall increase our profits,” he said.Rusumo is one of the busiest borders in the country.
