RUTSIRO/NGORORERO- The international organisation of French speaking countries, yesterday, announced that it would grant approximately 5million Euros towards developmental activities in the three districts of Rutsiro, Ngororero and Nyanza.

Local leaders in both Rutsiro and Ngororero are optimistic that the donation would significantly help them implement developmental activities. They revealed that access to clean water and electricity distribution are among the major priorities once the funds are availed.

"Among various developmental activities, we have planned to establish 340 kilometres of clean piped water and implementation of modern agricultural methods to improve the economic status of the farmers,” Gideon Ruboneza, the Mayor of Ngororero, said yesterday.

He also pointed out that strengthening government’s Girinka programme was among other priorities.

Rutsiro Mayor, Gaspard Byukusenge, emphasised that the health sector is among the its priorities.

"We have only one hospital in the district that caters for over 300,000 residents and we intend to build another one through the funding,” Byukusenge said.
