Insights: Value of gratitude

We may be surrounded by the most caring parents, loving siblings, warm aunties and sweet friends, but do we ever put some time away to reveal to them how they are so dear to us or do we merely take them for granted and forget they are a blessing?

We may be surrounded by the most caring parents, loving siblings, warm aunties and sweet friends, but do we ever put some time away to reveal to them how they are so dear to us or do we merely take them for granted and forget they are a blessing?

Most of us expect certain things but never take time to be appreciative when we get them.

Feeling appreciated or loved is what keeps us going everyday in this not so kind world, so it is ultimately necessary for one to return love to those people who have mattered most in their lives as it makes them feel better and therefore helps them focus on what is good in any situation.

For those who are so insensitive or blind to the level that they can’t see the importance people around them serve, this quote gives them the best answer "One never realizes how important something is, not until they have lost it.”

In other words, lets learn to say "thank you” to the people who have enriched our lives in different ways when they can still afford a breathe, those who have at least lost a dear one can bear you witness.

Tell those people, who are object to your affection that you appreciate the time and wisdom they have always offered, the patience they have exhibited towards you, acknowledge the efforts they have made to make you a better person as this makes them feel honoured and needed.

I know some people never feel appreciated therefore have a difficult time appreciating  others but give it a trial for once ,the results will be amazingly great .

Aside from people and relationships, there are certain things we take for granted yet they are paramount to our well being. Have you ever woken up one morning and said "Thanks to the beautiful sun”?

You can imagine how scary it would be living in a world of darkness! Appreciate the smells of nature, laughter of children, the hooting and screeching of cars on the streets...

We have all heard this phrase, "If you have health, you have everything”. Gratitude for a healthy body and mind is something we are often reminded when   exposed to a person who is not as fortunate; therefore we should learn to be glad that we are physically and mentally sound.

In conclusion, go to sleep with gratitude for the day no matter what happened or how things turned out, even if it’s gloomy and raining, be grateful that another day stands before you.

I am confident that being grateful will comfort you and make you a happier human being.
