REIGNING champions and table leaders APR yesterday kept their winning streak intact with a 14th straight Primus league victory over SC Kiyovu at Kigali Regional Stadium.

The in-form Jean Baptista Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi and Bebeto Lwamba scored the goals as the army side claimed a 2-1 win over Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side.

Rodrique Murengezi put the green baggies ahead but goals from Migi (29th) and Lwamba (45th) sealed maximum points for Ernie Brandts’ side.

The win leaves APR on 42 points, a whole 15 points ahead of Kiyovu who are second.

All they need now is three more wins (AS Kigali, Musanze and Muhanga) to successfully retain the Primus National Football League title.

On Wednesday, Police FC closed the gap with Kiyovu to four points after a well deserved 2-1 win over Rayon Sport.

The Blues scored first on the half hour mark through winger Peter Kagabo but were unable to hold onto their lead as Police striker Eric Ndahayo curled in a free kick in the 41st minute.

Meddie Kagera then sealed the three points with a goal on the 61st minute. For Rayon, the loss compounded their recent woes.

In the last four weeks, the club has lost two coaches in Andy Mfutila and Emmanuel Ruremesha which explains their recent slump in form (one point in four games). The pinnacle of the drastic run was on Saturday when they lost out to minnows Marine 1-2.

Struggling Mukura were also victorious on the day after a 1-0 win over Etincelles. The Western Province side is now tied on 19 points with AS Kigali.
