Experts from London have called for investment in fire safety management, to avoid accidents that can impede the country’s development.

The experts are in the country to impart fire-fighting skills in public places like markets and malls.

The technicians are from Mugolds International, a company that offers fire safety management solutions for infrastructure. The company is also in charge of fire safety management in the city of London.

Wayne Clark, a senior consultant with the firm, said that the current level of infrastructure in the country calls for new ways to safeguard them against fire outbreaks.

"The more the country invests in infrastructural development, the more the fire risks increase such as the use of gas and electric equipment and highly flammable materials. The country, therefore, needs to pay attention to preventing fire,” he said in an interview.

Meanwhile, Ignatius Mugabo, a Rwandan national based in London, who headed the delegation, advised that the government should not solely rely on police to fight fire, saying that the most important thing was creating awareness on how it could be prevented.
