Editor,

In reference to your article in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes entitled "Experts hail Rwanda’s investment in agriculture,” I wish to also comment on the country’s efforts in this critical sector.

Rwanda is primarily an agricultural economy and the investments made in agriculture is definitely good news.

I congratulate Agriculture Minister, Dr. Agnes Kalibata and her team for ensurıng that the country is ‘’food secure’’.

The investments in irrigation and enhancing food storage facilities, which the government is undertaking, would go a long way in prioritising food security.

As one of the emerging world’s economy, India has the latest technology in modern irrigation systems and the Indian Merchants’ Chamber, who signed a memorandum of understanding with the Rwanda Private Sector Federation would be very pleased to assist Rwanda, if the country so desires, in employing these modern systems in the coming months.
