Programmes such as Itorero have fostered reconciliation

Editor,

The world could learn a powerful lesson from the way the Rwandans have come together after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Instead of finger-pointing, survivors and genocide perpetrators have simply begun the daunting task of recovery.

They make the country proud with their sense of forgiveness and hard work. It is sad that Rwandans were tested like this, yet their best qualities have been exhibited.

Watching what happened to our fellow humanity at the memorial sites, you wonder why some people still make jokes about the genocide. These are few detractors and they do not represent the world. Time will come and they shall  know the truth.
