Editor,

Parents are supposed to keep their children out of danger, but in 1994, many of them turned into monsters. Not only did they take part in killing innocent compatriots but their own children as well in a bid to eliminate all Tutsi.

I am happy to hear that the youth in Kamembe Sector; Rusizi District ,have denounced their own parents who participated in the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. Let us give support to such children and also increase sensitisation in schools about the dangers of the genocide ideology.

The youth like those from Rusizi will uproot the vice and save the young generation from contamination. Children should be empowered to report their parents who subscribe to the genocide ideology.

In 2008, legislators realised that there was rampant genocide ideology among families and schools. Though, the lawmakers moved fast to immediately stop the vice, we shall not sit back and relax. We should keep sensitising the youth to resist parents who want to infect them with the vice. We can learn a lot from the youth in Rusizi District and fight the deadly ideology that plunged the country into the Genocide.
