A host of local musicians, on Tuesday, joined the Ministry of Sports and Culture (MINISPOC) to honour fellow artistes slain during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The commemoration was held at indoor Petit Stade in Remera, Kigali. Artistes who attended included Diplomat, Dr. Claude, G7, Holy Jah Doves, Jay Polly, Just Family, Miss Jojo, Nutty Dread, Uncle Austin, and VD Frank.

"We thank MINISPOC for the initiative to gather us because it helped artistes to know the history of the country and what caused the genocide,” the President of Ingoma Music Association and Vice-President of the Rwandese Music Federation, Jean Piere Runyurana said.

Throughout the ceremony, musicians attentively listened to speeches by Pastor Antoine Rutayisire and Prof. Anastase Shyaka, who talked about the dignity Rwandans should cultivate, helping of survivors and the importance of knowing their history.
