Trendy outfits for pregnant women

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful transformations of the human body.  Most parts of a woman’s body increase in size—she takes shape around the hips, belly and bust. This definitely calls for a change in dress-code. The tight-fitting jeans and body hugging tops will no longer be suitable but rather light, comfortable and trendy clothes will save the day.

Comfortable tops with maternity trousers will get any pregnant woman going.

Rather than setting off looking like a clown in funny looking and oversized maternity dresses, choose clothes that will enhance your shape and keep you looking vibrant.

Allen Mutoni is a 37-year-old resident of Kacyiru who said that body changes that come with pregnancy or weight gain tend to make women give up on the way they dress.
"Currently most pregnant women prefer to dress up in leggings and short maternity dresses, although young mothers in their early 20s stick to their denim jeans,” she said.

Mutoni is a mother of three and this is what she has to say about unreasonable dress codes when pregnant.

"I would advise anyone regardless their age not to dress up in jeans when they are pregnant because the way you dress affects the child in your womb.”

"A pregnant mother has to dress up in clothes that don’t squeeze the belly.

"However with the mood swings experienced during pregnancy one could even end up hating particular colours. Either way it all depends on what is right for the baby,” Mutoni emphasized.

However, it remains challenging for working class mothers in the corporate world to find reasonable and professional looking maternity clothes.

According to the renowned Rwandan fashion designer Mwicira Mitali, alias, Dady de Maximo, a pregnant mother should decide on what is suitable for her.

"It’s always one’s choice each time they are to dress up in a particular colour. Therefore even pregnant mothers should select colours they are comfortable wearing,” Dady de Maximo said.

The DADMAX Agency owner added that the most important aspect about the dress code is being happy with the clothes you are wearing.

"Always wear what makes you happy and not what people think you will look good on you. However, a new fashion experience is also adventurous. Stick with colours you like. For instance, black clothes are always flattering, especially if made with soft fabricks,” he advised.

Pregnant women who want to hide their bellies opt for dark colors, as this will hide the weight better than light colors. However, it is considered trendy to show the tummy instead of trying to hide it.

Additionally, shorter dresses are acceptable in the early stages of pregnancy but during the last trimester, longer dresses would be suitable. T-shirts relating to pregnancy will look quite nice with a comfortable fitting pair of maternity jeans.
