My name is Rukunda Sekamana, I am 9 years old. I live in Cyangugu, Western province. On time, I visited my Aunt in Kigali city; I remember it was holiday time.

On the first day, I was very shy to play with the children from the neighborhood. It took me a full week to get used to them.

In the second week, I had to shake my fears and shyness off so that I could get involved in the games children were playing.

I remember the first day I joined the children to play, they teased me a lot, and they were not friendly. Some even attempted to beat me up.

I hated their bullying; this was worsened when I told them I had never been in school. They all burst into laughter and made fun out of it.

"How can a big boy like you, not be in school?” They asked.

It was such a big challenge in my life, but since the games were nice and interesting, I had to endure. The next day, I did not go to play, I stayed home lonely but I made up my mind to revenge if I went back.

I made sure that I went earlier than any body else but unfortunately I found almost every body in the field already.

Oh what a challenge, I sighed, joined them with a lot of fear. However, it was such a shock to see every body who had teased me rushing to greet me instead.

This act made me change my mind our revenging over them like I had planned. Since then, these children have turned out to be my good friends.

Currently, I am in my Primary 6 and during holidays, I prefer visiting at my Aunt’s place in order to have fun with them.
