Editor,

For many years, some people, especially those who live outside Rwanda, have doubted efforts made to reconcile the Rwandan people.

But the facts on ground are proof enough. The Government’s policy on reconciliation after the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi has produced positive results.

For instance, one of the authentic pointers to the fruits of reconciliation were evident in 1997 at Nyange Secondary School, when negative forces tried to  divide the students along ethnic lines.  Young as they were, they resisted and paid the ultimate price.

Believing that reconciliation is a prerequisite to the development process, the government has supported  and promoted harmony.

The reconciliation has not benefitted Rwanda alone but also scores of other countries who visit to learn how the Rwandan people now live in harmony
