The newly appointed Inspector General of Police Felix Namuhoranye takes oath during the swearing-in ceremony in Kigali on Friday, February 24.

President Paul Kagame on Friday told leaders that serving Rwandans is a task that requires constant commitment and hard work, among other selfless traits.

Kagame made the remarks while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of the new Inspector General of Police, DCGP Felix Namuhoranye and his deputy in charge of operations, CP Vincent Sano, both of whom were appointed on Monday, February 20.

The head of state told officials who attended the ceremony held at Village Urugwiro that the government was ready to fully support the new mantle through capacity building forums, training equipment among others, in order to be able to achieve maximum security for the nation.

He also called upon the public to render their necessary assistance to the Police.

"Achieving maximum security for all Rwandans requires a serious level of commitment, hard work, cooperation, good work ethics and selfless acts,” Kagame said.

He called upon the leaders to honor their oath of office and value it through achievements.

Prior to the appointment as Inspector General of Police, DCGP Namuhoranye served as the Deputy Inspector General of Police while CP Sano was the Commissioner in charge of finance.
