The huge crowd in attendance at Nyamirambo Regional stadium yesterday was treated to a real classic billing as Rayon held League champions to a 2-2 draw.

The Blues have improved as the league has progressed and announced their intentions by taking the lead through Aphrodis Hategikimana a.k.a Kanombe immediately after recess. APR hit back through Kabange Twite seconds later, as Rayon could not muster the victory that would have put their declining title hopes back on tack.

In-form Masudi Kaka put APR ahead through a penalty kick half way through the second half after a foul on him by Rayon custodian Alexis Mugabo.

Rayon’s second half substitute Jean Lomami scored on eightieth minute goal to put Rayon back on level terms.

At the Huye Stadium in Butare , visitors Electrogaz failed to continue their impressive league form when they were beaten by Mukura 3-0.

League leaders Atraco stayed on top of table   after a 2-1 win over league debutants Military.

In a related APR  jets out of the country  in the country on Wednesday  ahead of weekend ‘s African Champions League second -leg of the preliminary round against Zamalek in Cairo.

A source in Ferwafa told Times Sport yesterday that the military side travel on Wednesday afternoon aboard Kenya Airways for Cairo.

Come, the second leg national league champions APR will count on the services of defender Mbuyu Twite and first choice custodian Aime Ndizeye Ndanda.

The pair was serving a one-match ban after earning red cards in last year’s champions’ league second round clash against Maranatha Fiokopo of Togo.

APR will be trying to over haul a 2-1 deficit that they suffered in Kigali two weeks ago against the Egyptian side.

The military side under former coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira saw off Zamalek after a 6-4 goal aggregate in 2004. The winner between APR and Zamalek will face the winner between Tonnere FC and Africa Sports.
