Around the world, midwives are working to ensure that women receive high-quality and dignified care before, during and after childbirth, and experience safe, healthy deliveries. Yet, globally, one in three women still gives birth without a skilled birth attendant. We know that investment in midwifery care is critical to reducing needless deaths in pregnancy and childbirth.
