When sports is the only way to get her…

Usually in life their must be something everyone likes and dislikes. Personally I like sports, talk of basket ball, rally, motor races, volley ball, rugby… the list is infinite, excluding soccer of course. Certainly when soccer is almost everybody’s adorable sport it barely rocks my world.

I would get surprised and shocked every often I heard some one had hanged them selves, because "Manchester United” lost to Arsenal (haaa… Man U fans must be cursing!!). It always left me perplexed.

"Why should some one die for a team of which he is not known to…?” I always questioned my self.

Then the family break ups in most of the suburbs around the city because Wayne Rooney failed to score a penalty or because Fabregas played sluggishly and it cost their team a win. At the end of it all, tomorrow there is a divorce, shocking indeed!

Not until three weeks back I came to understand the whole maze.

Three months earlier I started seeing Yasmine, she was intelligent, beautiful, so outing going like I was, almost the same hobbies but only one thing made us totally different. Strangely enough, that one difference was the only way to win her heart. She was a total soccer die hard.

As to pope is to Rome, Yasmine was to soccer, to be precise she was an Arsenal die hard.

She is a soccer fanatic than most of the men I have seen around town. Her arguments about the premiership league were endless. She always was surrounded with males assuring and challenging them about the victory since the 90s than anyone else knew.

Unfortunately enough I was the exception. Soccer has never been my thing up to now, but since I needed to hit on pretty Yasmine, this was my only shot. I had to show her how much soccer meant to me, more or less support Arsenal at that.

Worst of it all, however much I had tried to love soccer in my past days before I saw Yasmine, Arseanl had never been my team. None the less I had to carry the cross.

So this one Friday evening like always, I go to one of the bars with a friend to take one bottle for the road. And guess who was attentively sitting at the counter watching Arsenal vs. Barcelona match … Yasmine! Sitting in a big crowd of "gents” of course, I had seen her before at the same bar though we never talked; obviously I had been told he had no boyfriend so this was my time to attack. How do I do it? I thought to my self.

Gently I stood up holding my bottle and walked towards her back where she was sitting.

Certainly before I could closely be next to her, Fabregas was on TV with the ball doing wonders getting to Barca circles. All of a sudden my enthusiasm rocked the peak and I screamed "Arsenallll goallllllll…” like everyone else. It was actually a goal. She stood up to celebrate as I praised the mighty Arsenal (the team I hated) on top of my voice.

As the flash back went on to show the goal on TV, her enthusiasm grew even stronger and guess what she did.

She actually turned back to congratulate the man behind her. It was me of course. It was a warm hug from Yasmine for the Arsenal win (thumbs up for Arsenal I earned a hug because of you).

Before I could introduce my manifesto to Yasmine, it was another goal for Arsenal. You can imagine what it was like now… hugs, tears of joy, pecks in the air…haaa it was my victory instead.

A few minutes after the two goals, it sent Arsenal to a win. My introduction now started. Before we could all go home her TIGO and MTN phone numbers were in my phone already. And we promised to link up to watch the second league together.

As we talk right now we are happy together and she is in my apartment watching Arsenal highlights for the next match.
