5. Epiphanie Nyirabarame is Rwanda’s top female marathon record holder. The two-time Olympian Nyirabarame was born in Huye district (formerly Butare) in the southern province.
The 27-year-old made Rwanda proud after she won a third gold medal in the women marathon in the 2009 Francophone games held in Beirut.
