Power forward Delwan Graham is settling for life at new club Rwanda Energy Group (REG) as he prepares to feature for the local powerhouse in the forthcoming Basketball Africa League (BAL) which gets underway in March.

The 34-year old American arrived in Rwanda on Monday and is already with the rest of the club roster training for the BAL’s Sahara Conference group phase.

"I like the players, the coach. I mean, everybody seems like good people. So I feel like I am at home,” he said.

Graham believes he can give his own contribution in terms of bringing "a lot of intensity” and experience during the club's coming fixtures.

"I've been a little bit everywhere in the top leagues, in South American leagues, middle East leagues, I've been in Israeli top leagues. So, this BAL season is very interesting to me. I'm happy to be out here,” he said.

REG face a tough test against rivals Patriots in Friday’s encounter that will close the first round of the national basketball league. The game will take place at Lycee de Kigali Gymnasium.

It is not confirmed yet whether Graham will play the game but he said he would be ready for it if tasked for the job.

"I'm pretty much prepared as long as I've got cardio and can keep running up and down the court, everything will be good,” he noted.

The American was visibly excited to be in Rwanda, describing the country and Africa as his motherland, an opportunity that he said not everyone back in America gets.

"Not everybody in America gets the experience, you know what I'm saying? To come to Africa. You really see where the roots come from. So I'm very excited to be here,” he said.
