President Paul Kagame on Wednesday, February 22, received at his office Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Kingdom of Jordan who is in Rwanda on a three day working visit.

Safadi is flanked with a high-ranking delegation including Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Jordan Armed Forces, and Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, Director General of Intelligence Department.

According to the President’s Office, they discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas following different agreements signed earlier in the day.

Safadi and his Rwandan counterpart, Vincent Biruta signed three Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of political consultations, education, and visa wavering on diplomatic and service passports.

Political consultations agreement is expected to lay ground for continued discussions between both countries in areas of mutual interests including the conclusion of pending agreements in justice, trade and investment, finance, agriculture, and health.

At the signing ceremony, both ministers also agreed on plans to waive visa requirements for ordinary passports to accelerate bilateral cooperation between both countries.

This, according to them, will increase two-way traffic in tourism, education, among other benefits for the business community.

In March 2022, Kagame visited Jordan, where he was hosted by His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein for a bilateral meeting on discussions enhancing ongoing areas of cooperation between Jordan and Rwanda.

The development will build on existing cooperation between both countries in defence and security, especially in fighting terrorism through information and expertise sharing.
