Rwandan-British actor Mizero Ncuti Gatwa who stars as Eric Effiong in Sex Education Netflix series, recently announced that he is leaving the drama series which made him a star in the cinema world.

"Last day. Last time. Bye bubs, thank you for all the lessons and for all the strength," Ncuti posted on Instagram last week, sharing a photo of his trailer door with the name ‘ERIC’.

The caption seems to confirm what was rumored for months that Ncuti will not be returning for future episodes of Sex Education after season 4.

His Sex Education co-star Aimee Lou Wood wrote in the comment section of the post: "My heart hurts badly”, reacting to Ncuti exit from the drama series.

His exit is just the latest in a string of departures from the series, with other major cast members such as Patricia Allison, Tanya Reynolds, Simone Ashley and Rakhee Thakrar.

Ncuti’s departure is partly due to his recent casting as the 14th Doctor in the long-running British series Doctor Who. The new role in Doctor Who is a major career move for the actor and will require significant time and dedication.
