Beauty: Clogs are back in the heart of fashion

My daughter came home in January from her long holiday trip, to find one more pair of shoes added to my collection. She was very amused by what she saw.

"Mum these are outdated, they look so ancient you can’t wear them,” she said. "Yes, I will wear them,” I told her.

"For as long as you will not be walking with me then I don’t mind,” she replied. "Point well taken,” I told her.

That is the problem of having a teenage daughter who is taller than the mum, and now she thinks
am her sister and not her mother, I thought to myself.

I am a shoe collector and hardly fail to collect any shoe that comes in fashion. So when clogs
came knocking my way a few months ago I added them to my collection.

Talking of clogs, I first came upon them in the early eighties where a lady neighbour who was mom’s friend had quite a collection in different colours hanged on the wall of her bedroom. Ten years later while in high school clogs came to be in fashion again and I acquired a pair for myself as well.

During my time I remember it was on fashion to wear a mini dress and a pair of clogs. Now many years’
later clogs have returned once again to the world of fashion, only this time they have become
more fashionable and trendier.

Footwear to me is an essential category of any woman’s wardrobe contrary to what other people think.

Whenever I choose fashionable footwear I also have to
make sure that it is comfortable to wear. I just don’t go for a shoe to grace my wardrobe and
never have to wear it.According to many fashion designers, clogs are arguably the most comfortable shoes any woman
can wear because of the steady wooden soles.

These wooden soles mean that the classically
elegant clog can be worn for long before beginning to show wear and tear, assuring you of value for your money. Even by the fact that the soles are wooden does not restrict it to a particular design as they come in both practically low heeled soles and pointy pencil thin soles.

The craftsmanship evident in the clog design ensures that although the sole is wooden, the essence
of style and fashion is still captured in its making.
The clog shoe can be worn in all seasons
and can also be worn for all occasions; at parties, to religious events and even to the office because of its easily adaptable design and variety in orientation.

For as long as the pair picked for office is neither too high nor too short then it can be right for the occasion.
Although clog is essentially a backless shoe, there are clogs which have straps and/or buckles
to further enhance the character of the shoe and consequently the wearer.

The clog shoes were introduced in the sixties by one man called Dr. Scholl as a therapeutic shoe to correct foot
problems such as bunions. It was this act that gained the shoe its popularity back then and even now.

The clog shoes are structured in such a way that the weight is evenly distributed and there is no excessive stress on any particular part of the foot and advantage for plus size women like me.

The popularity has risen so high that even celebrities like the Olsen twins and even Miley Cyrus have been spotted wearing them.

They are worn by women all around the world and can be worn with different attires and outfits like skirts, trousers and dresses that would suit your personal style.

They add a touch of glamour and class and you would surely look fabulous in them.
