During the 2017 presidential elections, he derived a gospel chorus from his words in order to support President Paul Kagame. Using the dialect of the Northern Province, 'Kigoyi', a variation of Kinyarwanda spoken in northwestern Rwanda, he changed the gospel chorus that mentioned Daniel to Paul Kagame to express his gratitude to Rwanda Patriot Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) and empower Rwandans who had gone through hard times. The song became an instant hit throughout the country, and this is when Ndandambara Ikospeed's life changed.

Real name Leonard Nsabimana, the singer was born on January 19, 1992, his musical journey began in 1999, when he was six years old and was the lead singer of a children's choir at Nazareth Church, Rubavu.

"I had a passion for music, and while I was in choir, I used to write songs that had nothing to do with my church, but in 2016, I decided to leave the choir and pursue music as a solo artiste. My goal while beginning my solo career was to use music to inspire Rwandans to put their faith in the RPF rather than their fears,” says Ndandambara.

Life after mega hit song

The song did not just change his music career; it changed his life in all aspects. The singer recalls being able to leave his unpleasant living situation after this song's release to a better life. In 2022 he performed at one of the concerts held during CHOGM and was paid Rwf3 million which he says was the biggest amount he has ever been paid during his career.

"It was the first time in my life that I had ever received money of that kind, and with it, I bought a plot of land worth Rwf1.5 million on which I intend to construct a home for my children. I am now a married man with four children whom I support with the money that I make in music, all from ‘Ndandambara Yandera Ubwoba’ that changed my life.

I'm grateful to our president and RPF for transforming the unpleasant life I was living into a man of responsibility. My songs discuss love, life, acknowledging my native tongue, as well as our nation and its effective governance,” he said.

The singer recently released a song dubbed ‘Uzi Kurinda’, which he dedicated to the president. Among his other songs include ‘Kungereta’, ‘Angelina’, ‘Kulewa’, ‘Mola’ ft Bull Dog, ‘Ububuno’, ‘Mana Nduma’
