The national Cycling Federation has budgeted Frw. 7 millions to facilitate this year’s Tour de Kigali slated for March 2.

Cycling federation (Ferwaka) Secretary General, Aimable Rwabusaza confirmed the development to Times Sport recently. "We mainly want to publicize the game more in this tour. And to make the population know its advantages,” said Rwabusaza.

Rwabusaza further added that the tour is a build up for this year’s Beijing Games due in China in August where Rwanda is expected to a team.

Last year’s sponsor, MTN Rwanda is yet to confirm their willingness to bankroll this year’s event.   The giant communications company ejected Frw. 30 millions in last year’s cycling championships which included; Tour de Rwanda and Eastern tour.

However, the federation is set to start talks with MTN so as to get another similar facilitation this year.

This year’s tour de Kigali is expected to attract participants from various cycling clubs in the country including Cine Elmay, Gisenyi, Eastern Cycling Club, and Nyagatare.
