Red card: Desmond and Diana

“Yes sir,” Diana’s uncle replied on the phone. Suspiciously, it sounded like he was talking to someone very important in worldly titles. Immediately, they took her back to the car and she left me seated alone. Diana gazed at me in desperation, as she was being forced by her ‘mean’ uncle and aunt to leave. Her face turned pale, she was balancing tears in her eyes.

"Yes sir,” Diana’s uncle replied on the phone.

"Will give you a call,” Diana uttered. I nodded and waved my hand as she entered the Grand-Vitara.

Life for me was beginning to become interesting as love was flooding my soul. I had forgotten that I wasn’t the only person on earth, as I came back to my senses and everyone was staring at me in the coffee shop where we were. Eh! I remembered that I had a party to attend at Shanice’s home.

I boarded agahene (motor bike) to her home.
There was loud music and ladies dressed-to-kill—I saw the hommies I used to hang out with; they were DRUNK in capital letters. "We are poppin’ em bottles yo! Grab yourself one hommie,” they shouted at me.
"Am good, am clean” I replied.

"Clean!!? What are you talkin’ about Des (used to be my nickname)? Goodness me! I sounded like a betrayer to them, so I diverted a little bit and I said, "I got a girlfriend! A beauty from Australia.” I was surprised to see that none cared about it.

So, I face my fears and stood my ground saying, "life has a way bigger meaning than just having fun…I have discovered that all this is like smoke of a cigarette, it vanishes quickly but stinks on you for a long time.

We could be doing a whole bunch of other important things than just spending what we hardly work for on booze. All this pleasure and fun is actually supposed to be like a bonus after work.

Surely, I have known the truth about myself and I am looking forward to truly finding my true identity.

Peace out!”
Ha! Silence broke—it seemed like I had crashed the party. I knew that I had just lit fire and maybe broken our friendship…but I was certain and serious about my words.

The guys looked at each other, just as they were about to say something—I received a text. "Meet me in town tomorrow 2:00 p.m. Love you. Diana”

I departed. When I reached home, dad was waiting to tell me that Grandma was hospitalized in CHUK.

Lord! My heart raced when dad added that she was in a very critical condition. The following day, I went to the hospital to check on granny.

She couldn’t talk, so I sat there wondering about her situation and how I could meet with Diana at 2:00 p.m.

The clock ticked till 1:35 p.m and I became impatient because dad hadn’t arrived. To my rescue, he came 10 minutes to time. I rushed to wait for Diana at Simba.

She came on a motorbike; everyone around me paused for a minute staring at the beautiful sunset covered in a green dress.I missed a heart beat when she freely smacked my lips with a kiss…oh my! I was speechless.

We talked for quite some time before I asked her why she came on a motor. She said she had escaped from home. Men, I shivered! I told her to go back at once because her aunt and uncle would kill us! They

were already there furious, it’s like they had a tracking device on her."Your dad is angry and he has said you return back in Melbourne at once, we got your air ticket covered.

He doesn’t want to lose you,” uncle shouted.
She hugged me tight and said, ‘I love you find me at the airport at least.”

I wilted! She entered the car to the airport. I also took a taxi to Kanombe to at least see her for the last time since I didn’t have enough bucks for a cab.

She had gone when I by the time I arrived. I couldn’t believe it. I found a red note saying, "I have loved you, and I will always do.” my heart relieved but I received a text saying granny had passed.

I didn’t know what to feel. Seriously! This story has been in green, orange and finally, red. When you look closely, it’s more like traffic lights.

This was just to symbolize the tempo of the drama of our love (Diana and Desmond). Now, we are in a long distance relationship and I am sailing steady.
