Rwanda National Office of Tourism (ORTPN) has come up with a draft tourism master plan. The document, the first of its kind may pave way for faster development of the sector.

Compiled by consultants from the United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the draft is detailed with up-to-date information about the country’s tourism facilities, sites, potentials and investment opportunities.

"It will clearly indicate the registered tourism and cultural centres, restaurants and hotels as well as any other information regarding Rwanda’s tourism industry, which can bring about an increase in tourists,” Chantal Rugamba, ORTPN director general said.

Claire Akamanzi, the deputy director general of Rwanda Investment and Export Promotion Agency (Riepa), sounded optimistic: "The master plan will ease our efforts in attracting and promoting investments in Rwanda as potentially and profitable tourism investment gaps will be identified.”
